This class offers a foundational overview of image compositing theory and application. Compositing is the last step of the animation process where a shot’s individually produced layers and elements are seamlessly assembled into the final image. While much of what will be covered applies to live-action visual effects integration, we will primarily focus on CG animation production.
The curriculum will be divided into 2 sections: basic concepts and practical application. Although specific software will be used to demonstrate concepts and techniques, this class is meant to be software agnostic with the goal of establishing fundamental knowledge of the core principles behind the tools in order for students to more effectively approach both typical and unique challenges found in animation shot integration.
Students will need their personal laptop and software that is TBD downloaded prior to the course.
